SELF CATERING HOLIDAY COTTAGE ON THE WEST BERKSHIRE / OXFORDSHIRE BORDER

The Old Stables is an ideal base for sightseeing, walking and cycling, with many local attractions to keep you occupied. There is direct access to a bridleway and The Old Stables is within easy access of The Ridgeway National Trail and the Thames Path. The Old Stables is also situated immediately at the foot of The National Trust’s site known as The Holies, Lardon Chase and Lough Down which encompasses 67 acres of chalk grassland, supporting many wild flowers butterflies, Red Kites, Roe Deer, and Muntjac.  Streatley is in two areas of outstanding natural beauty namely The Chilterns and the North Wessex Downs

Situated opposite The Thames on the Oxfordshire border, the cottage is in a rural setting, being well set back from the main A329 Reading to Oxford road on the outskirts of the villages of Goring and Streatley. Goring and Streatley is essentially one community known as Goring on one side of the river and Streatley on the other. There is a local train station in Goring, although a car is strongly recommended.  The villages are a popular tourist destination and are becoming well known for their magnificent events such as the annual Regatta, festivals, concerts, recitals, and the Christmas torchlight procession attracting visitors from far and wide.

The cottage is highly insulated and incorporates renewable technologies including under floor heating, a heat recovery system, an air source heat pump, and an exhaust air heat pump, all of which provide an extremely comfortable living environment.

The cottage is SUITABLE FOR GUESTS WITH LIMITED MOBILITY.  Please see our Access Statement on the Accommodation Details page and, contact the owners to discuss your requirements and to assess suitability.
